Youth Education Program

GHEI’s YEP offers supplemental classes to junior high school students in Humjibre. The classes have a significantly smaller student-to-teacher ratio than the students’ regular schools, a variety of materials and resources that are not commonly available, and focus on fostering active learning and critical thinking skills while helping students prepare for their critical Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE).

100% of students completing YEP and attending Senior High School, go on to attend college/university or technical training.

The BECE is the main admissions exam students must take to attend a secondary (senior high) or vocational school. YEP classes cover students’ core subjects, which are the focus of the BECE as well: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies and Information Communication Technology.

YEP and Beyond:
A Journey of Empowerment

YEP is an important tool and plays a significant role in designing the future of students as successful persons. It lessens the challenges they will face and prepares them for the time after senior high school. Through YEP they gain more knowledge that opens more opportunities, allowing them to achieve better possibilities for career and personal growth.

“I have been part of YEP for more than ten years. I began my journey as a student first. Today, I am one of the teachers leading the initiative. Back then, the program helped me improve my speaking and writing skills in English. Today, I am happy and satisfied to impart knowledge that empowers young minds.”
