Career Opportunity Lecture Series 2019

February 26, 2019

“Chose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” – Confucius

On 8th of February, Ghana Health and Education Initiative (GHEI) organized its 12th edition of Career Opportunity Lecture Series (COLS). Annually, during the past twelve years, we organize rounds of workshops and invite motivational speakers from the local and nearby communities to share their experiences about their career development.

This year, we hosted 160 students from Humjibre and Muoho. The Junior High School students form 3, had an opportunity to get more informed about their career options, schools availability, and how they can possibly and gradually overcame their career challenges in the future.

The event started with the opening speech of GHEI’s Country Director, Mr. Clement Donkor. Then, GHEI’s staff delivered four rounds of informative workshops. Six motivational speakers from Humjibre, Sefwi Bekwai and Bibiani have delivered their speeches on various challenges they were facing while building their careers.

Here are all the speakers:

Mr. Anthony Ampenteng

Extension Officer of COCOBOD, Sefwi Bekwai

Mr. Kwame Kontoh Boateng

Host of Morning Show, Lord FM, Sefwi Bekwai

Mr. Andrews Gyapong

Headmaster of Humjibre Anglican Junior High School, Humjibre

Ms. Martha Nneka Opara

Director of National Commission for Civil Education, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality

Ms. Ophelia Okyere

Public Relations Officer of Republic Bank, Sefwi Bekwai

Mr. Sylvester Yeboah

Nurse of Humjibre Clinic, Humjibre

Majority of youths in rural Ghana do not have access to internet. As a result, they are in a disadvantage position compare to their peers, who live in urban areas such as Kumasi and Accra in getting valid information related to their education and career. That is why most of students consider GHEI COLS as the only source of information which will hopefully help them make the best possible career decision in their future.
