Sexual & Reproductive Health

GHEI's Sexual and Reproductive Health program is designed to reduce teen pregnancy, encourage family planning and help protect our communities against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. Due to the growing mining and timber industries in our area, HIV/AIDS is more prevalent in our district than other parts of Ghana.

Since 2003, GHEI has partnered with individuals and businesses in our communities to conduct highly-subsidized, confidential youth-friendly condom sales. We now sell condoms at seven locations, including a bar, a local pharmacy, the Humjibre Community Library and through volunteers in the Humjibre and Soroano communities.

Each December, GHEI celebrates World AIDS Day with large events focused on preventing HIV transmission, reducing stigma and discrimination, and promoting awareness of HIV/AIDS in Ghana and our region.
