Fund Development internship 

ABOUT GHEI
GHEI’s Mission is to enable communities in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District of Ghana to improve their children’s health, learning success and opportunities by building local capacity and providing necessary resources and support.

THE INTERNSHIP

The Ghana Health and Education Initiative (GHEI) is seeking a Development Intern whose primary responsibilities will be to assist with the identification and cultivation of appropriate grant opportunities and business sponsors to help fund GHEI’s programs focused on girls and women’s empowerment, education and health. The Fund Development Intern will assist in researching funding and partnership opportunities, documenting these opportunities and recommending prospects to the Director of Development. This internship requires strong communication and analytical skills and an ability to work with minimal supervision, while generating achievable deliverables which further GHEI’s fundraising efforts. The Fund Development Intern will play a major role in GHEI’s fundraising strategy.  

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Corporate sponsor research, identification and cultivation

  • Grant proposal identification and cultivation

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of upcoming fundraising campaigns and special initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS - The qualified candidate will be able to commit to 15 hours per week of work remotely. The candidate will have excellent writing, verbal, proof reading, editing, and organizational skills. Ideal candidates will also be flexible team players, self-motivated and detail-oriented individuals with a desire to help raise funds for GHEI’s programs. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and be able to learn customer relationship management systems which support their work. They will also have ability to prioritize and work well under deadlines. Computer aptitude and Microsoft Office experience required.
 

TIME COMMITMENT - 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months. Schedule will be set at beginning of internship, but is flexible based on work/life/school schedule. Internship may be completed remotely.
 

COMPENSATION - This is an unpaid internship.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Development
 

BENEFITS - This internship will provide the qualified candidate with great opportunities for job skill development. This position will provide an opportunity to learn about the development community, NGO capacity building and the issues facing our communities in rural Ghana. The intern may gain additional skills and will receive a letter of recommendation from GHEI after successful completion of internship.
